Rice paper gourd light by Japanese architect Shigeru Uchida. Perfected for over 90 years in the Gifu region of Japan, the Paper Gourd Table Lamp from Asano creates calm through its craftsmanship and rich glow. The beauty of traditional lanterns is that the use of simple shapes proves timeless. Even with the lights off, this piece captivates in its continuous curves. The curves are finely crafted by artisans using a steel wire armature and bamboo ribbing. Artful washi paper wraps the piece as a sculptural shade brimming with fine texture.
